YouLiP (Young Leaders in Practice)...
Building and Empowering Responsible Young Leaders (B.E.R.Y.L.)
About Us
The YouLiP programme is one of the projects of Uzommiri Study Centre, Enugu. The Centre is a project of the Women’s Board of Educational Cooperation Society (WB-ECS) which is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1972.
From its inception, Uzommiri has been exceptionally successful in mentoring girls and young women towards achieving excellence in academics, leadership and holistic human development.
The leadership program is a one-year leadership course for girls in their first and second years of Senior Secondary school who are interested in making an impact in society, becoming better versions of themselves and taking up mantles of leadership from an early age.
Background
The crisis we sometimes see in the world today shows not just a dearth of good governance but one of good citizenship as leaders come from among the citizens. According to Socrates, “the secret of change is to focus all of our energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new”. The activities of the leadership course will influence a positive mind-set in the next generation of leaders “because our future depends on what we do today”- Gandhi
