In line with the international literacy day, instituted by UNESCO and celebrated yearly on September 8, which highlights the importance of literacy to individuals and communities, the Obiagu project read-a-thon is intended as a fundraiser to support the literacy of less privileged girls.

Obiagu is an urban slum in Enugu State, Nigeria.🏬 It was discovered that students there, especially young girls, despite going to public schools, still have low literacy and numeracy skills. ☹️

The Obiagu project which started in 2017 to combat this problem is a charity run by University students who frequent Uzommiri Study Centre.👩🏾‍🎓👩🏾‍🎓
They give weekly classes on basic literacy skills, mathematics, and vocational training to the girls at Obiagu. 👩🏾‍🏫👩🏾‍💻👩‍🍳👩‍🔬👩‍🎨👩‍🏭

This Read-a-thon, as stated earlier, is intended as a fundraiser to set up a library where these girls can have full and free access to study materials as well as to equip their study room with tables and chairs.🏫

Join this read-a-thon and open a book with 3000 nairas or more. Read to give a child a chance to be literate! 🤓

  1. The wimpy kid: the ugly truth.

The part i liked about the book is when Greg (the writer of the book) always went to his uncle's weddings because it showed that he was always there for his uncle. But the part I didn't like was when he left his other uncle in the rain just because people yelled at him for
bringing muddy shoes into the kitchen that showed disrespect. It is a good book.

  2. Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree.
My favorite part of the story was when at the ending he landed headfirst in the hole and when Christopher Robin said they would get him out he told him to take his time!!
The part I didn't like so much was the part where Gopher was eating and he asked for a lick of honey and Rabbit came out and refused and kept a sign saying DON'T FEED THE BEAR.
    It is a hilarious book.

  7. Diary of a wimpy Kid: the ugly truth
It is a humorous book and I like the part Greg had a fight with his best friend Rowley and thinks that he will be crawling back to him but didn't happen. The book is humorous and I like how Greg's brother Manny is always misbehaving and gets away with it.

  8. Winnie The Pooh and The Honey Tree by Janet Campbell.
The characters of this book are : Winnie the Pooh, Rabbit, Christopher Robin, Kanga, Roo, and Gopher. The setting of this story is in a valley. This book is about Winnie the Pooh who always likes honey. One afternoon his honey finished so he just licked the scraps from the bowl. He went to Rabbits house because he knew that Rabbit always had food and honey in his house. Going out of Rabbits house he got stuck in the door. Rabbit Called Christopher Robin to help. There was a Gopher and he said the only way is to cut him of... They disagreed. Christopher Robin and Rabbit had to wait for him to get thin. Kanga invited Roo who brought Pooh a honey suckle . Pooh sniffed and sneazed and he flew out of the door and landed inside the whole of a honey tree. Christopher had to look for a way to get Pooh out but Pooh was happy because he saw lots of honey so he was happy.
The lessons/morals learnt form this story is that you should always be contented with what you have.

  9. Greg and his best friend really broke up before the school had started and it was really hard for him to walk around in school without his best friend and he tried to look for best friends but none of them then fit his his description so he walked around school alone. A lot of things happened in this looks like when Greg went for an audition for the New peachey ice cream commercial but he was too old for it. And then other part I liked was when they got a new a maid named Isabella and she refused to do any work even when Greg pretended to be his mum and try to make it a better watch his laundry but she never she had this excuse order or another. they also had a locking in school but some things happened and everyone went home except Greg and Rowley so that is how they became best friends again. I learnt that if life make it hard for you fight back. Don't just sit there because Greg expected Rowley to come back begging.

Throughout the book Brandon and Nikki feel like they are avoiding each other and at the end, they find out the reason for all the confusion is because Mackenzie has been using Brandon's phone to text Nikki. When the dance was coming to the end, Nikki was crowned WCD's Sweetheart Princess and Mackenzie was tricked and humiliated.
